Thailand reshuffles cabinet

Thailand’s Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra on June 28 evening submitted the list of her new cabinet members to the King for endorsement.
Under the so-called "Paetongtarn 1/2" cabinet, PM Paetongtarn will also hold the position of Minister of Culture, while Deputy PM Phumtham Wechayachai will relinquish his role as Defence Minister to take over the Ministry of Interior. The post of Defence Minister remains vacant, with General Natthaphon Nakphanich will serve as acting minister while continuing his role as Deputy Defence Minister.
Jatuporn Buruspat, permanent secretary at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, will be appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce.
Narumon Pinyosinwat will leave her position as Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives to become Minister of Education. She will be succeeded in the agriculture portfolio by Atthakorn Sirilatthayakon.
Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol will move from her current role as Minister of Culture to take on the position of Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation. Pongkawin Jungrungruangkit is named Minister of Labour, while Suchart Tancharoen will serve as Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office.
Other changes in the new cabinet involve several deputy ministerial positions in the Ministries of Interior, Education, Public Health, and Commerce.
