Denmark looks for cooperative opportunities in Can Tho

Permanent Vice Chairman of the Can Tho City People’s Committee Dao Anh Dung had a meeting with Commercial Counsellor at the Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam Troels Jakobsen on  July 2, discussing cooperative opportunities in the fields of renewable energy, wastewater treatment, agriculture, education and environment.

Vice Chairman Dao Anh Dung presented a gift to Commercial Counsellor Troels Jakobsen.

At the working session, the representative of the Danish Embassy introduced finance programs providing interest-free loans for infrastructure projects in developing countries in which priorities are given to green growth projects, environment, healthcare, education, water supply and renewable energy. He also presented the Lego Education solution and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) to preschool, primary and secondary schools. Mr. Troels Jakobsen expressed his desire to collaborate with Can Tho in Denmark’s strong sectors including renewable energy, environment, education, agriculture and wastewater treatment.

Mr. Dung directed the city relevant departments and agencies to research on finance programs and Danish proposals so that Can Tho can access the funding from Denmark for high priority projects in industry, wastewater treatment, agriculture and education, among others.

According to the municipal Department of Foreign Affairs, Can Tho earned 174,100 USD from exports to Denmark in 2019, with fisheries being the staple.
