At the working session, the city’s leaders informed about some positive results achieved in trade and investment with Hungary. In the first 10 months of 2022, Can Tho enterprises’ export turnover to Hungarian market is over 660,000 USD, mainly rice and seafood. In the field of official development assistance (ODA), the city is currently implementing the Can Tho city Oncology Hospital project with a total investment of nearly 1,728 billion VND. In which, the Hungarian Government's ODA loan accounts for 80.66%, the rest is Can Tho's reciprocal capital. The construction has just been extended until the end of December 31, 2026.

 

In addition, Can Tho city signed a cooperation agreement with Kaposvar city. In 2019, the two cities successfully coordinated to organize the Hungarian Culture Week in Can Tho. In 2021, Kaposvar sent medical supplies to support Can Tho in the COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control with a total value of more than 7,858USD.

 

For his part, Ambassador Baloghdi Tibor said that the potential for cooperation between Can Tho and Kaposvar is still great, especially in the field of production, processing and export of agro products. Regarding the Can Tho city Oncology Hospital project, he hoped that the two sides would regularly exchange information and promptly remove difficulties.

 

At the meeting, Mr. Tran Viet Truong expressed his thanks to Hungarian partners for their precious affection for Can Tho. At the same time, he also suggested that the two sides should focus on the Can Tho city Oncology Hospital project so that it could be completed on time. Can Tho and Kaposvar will continue to strengthen the relationship in all fields. Can Tho hoped the Hungarian Embassy to introduce and connect investors to the city to invest in the fields of agro - fishery processing, manufacturing industries, hi-tech agriculture, information technology,  infrastructure building and commerce.
