(CTO) - On June 5, Mr. Tran Viet Truong - Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen Van Hong - Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee received Dutch investors to build trade and export bridges of agricultural products to Dutch and European markets.

At the meeting, Mr. Tran Viet Truong introduced the potentials and advantages of Can Tho along with orientations on the construction and development of the city by 2030, with a vision to 2045. Currently, the city has about 40 rice processing and export enterprises; 45 seafood processing enterprises for export and 478 agricultural and aquatic product production and processing establishments for domestic consumption. The agricultural sector has also built and developed a safe agro-forestry-fishery supply chain model with about 100 chains for nearly 400 products; supporting certification of nearly 100 products in “The One Commune One Product” (OCOP) program in meeting 3 and 4-star standards, including some products approaching 5-star standard. The city’s main export items at present are rice, aquatic products, fruits and processed agricultural products.

Mr. Tran Viet Truong hoped that the meeting would contribute to promoting trade cooperation and exporting products with strengths of Can Tho City in particular, the Mekong Delta in general to Dutch and European markets. At the same time, many projects of Can Tho have attracted the attention of Dutch investors. Can Tho have committed to creating the most favorable conditions for businesses to develop stably and sustainably; creating an open investment environment to attract all resources for investment and development of the city.

Representative of the Dutch partner, Mr. Pham Van Hien - Director of LTP Import-Export Company - said that the aim of the meeting was to create a bridge to promote the export of agricultural and aquatic products of Can Tho to consumers in  the Netherlands and Europe. Building an export trading floor connecting the two bridgeheads Can Tho City and the Netherlands - Europe, with the participation of enterprises and companies in production - import, logistics (logistics network); increasing export output by official route from Can Tho to the Netherlands - Europe; supporting small and medium enterprises to meet European standards in terms of quality, quantity and market; maintaining a solid trade bridge between Can Tho City and the Netherlands - Europe. Appreciating the development potentials of Can Tho, the investors hope that after the business trip, they will have ideas for cooperation for the future.
